St. Nick’s Closet is a (c)(3) Charitable Organization based in Peachtree City, GA that provides the Financial assistant for the abused and neglected Animals in Fayette and Coweta County. The St. Nicks Heartship fund helps Abused and neglected Animals in our community that would be put to sleep without the assistance from St. Nicks Closet.
During the most current years, St. Nick’s Closet has extended its arms to reach out and help numerous animals who have been injured, abandoned, neglected, and /or left at local shelters for care. This endeavor to help resulted in the Hardship Fund branch of St. Nick’s Closet. As the title suggests, the animals who benefit from this group are, truly, hardship cases. The name of the fund has emerged into the Heartship Fund because the will to help these animals in need truly comes from the heart.
Frequently, St. Nick’s Closet becomes the primary caregiver who initially finds the needy animal, administers first-aid, and determines the physical needs of the animals, transports it to a vetenarian, pays for its medical expenses, and personally delivers it to a local shelter. Ultimately, St. Nick’s Closet helps to find forever homes for these helpless animals. Quite often if St. Nick’s funds are low, Stephan Curcio, the Charity’s founder, pays for the animals’ care and treatment out of his own pocket with the ongoing faith and hope that with the charity’s next fundraiser, monies will be raised to sufficiently cover any expenses. With St. Nick’s Closet, the animal in need is its first priority, and Stephan gets help for him, even if it means he will not receive any reimbursement. Truly, it is no wonder that Stephan Curcio was recently awarded the 2017 Good Neighbor Award by Fayette Realtors.
Close in line with the Heartship Fund is another branch of St. Nick’s Closet – the J. C. Hardship Fund that was established to cover even more needs for people as well as animals in this area. The idea for this Fund emerged when Stephan Curcio’s brother, Jack Curcio, experienced hardship relating to severe problems he had while he was ill and was trying to care for his foster dog, Missy, Originally, Jack’ s doctor had given him only six months to live; Jack, disabled, amazed his doctor and lived another four years after Missy, a rescue dog, moved in with him. Missy gave Jack a reason to wake up every morning. Thus began the J. C Heartship Fund. Stephan asked that friends donate dog and/or cat food in lieu of flowers in Jack’s memory. Stephan’s office, garage, and car trunk were filled with bags of food to distribute. From there, St. Nick knew they wanted to carry this idea forward and reach out to others in need.
Now, the J. C. Hardship Fund lends a hand to senior citizens, disabled persons, wounded veterans as well as all veterans who might be in need of help in caring for their animals This assistance ranges from a short term to a permanent basis depending on individual case need, we understand at St. Nicks that sometimes for these people there pet is all they have and on a fixed income if something happens to their beloved pet they are helpless.
St. Nick’s believes that no senior, disabled person, or veteran should not be denied an animal due to lack of financial resources to help care for the animal. Each day St. Nick’s Closet cares for the vulnerable animals who cannot speak for themselves, and the charity continues to look for ways to always be near to lend a helping hand.
